Chris has 22 years of IT support and management experience with a solid reputation for building world class support organizations. Prior to joining TVU Networks, he was Director of Technical Operations for Time Warner Cable, overseeing all IT, Engineering, and Operations for four television channels in three top 50 US markets. Before Time Warner, Chris spent 8 years with Compaq and Hewlett Packard in a variety of management roles and was heavily involved in launching both PCMCIA and 802.11 technology across Europe. ZiaShakeriHosseinA key associate since 1984 and the former vice president of advanced engineering, ZiaShakeri was named senior vice president of business development and alliances in 2004 to help maintain the company’s leadership position in product innovation and business success.

ZiaShakeri has more than 20 years experience in digital and analog hardware design; firmware/software development; and design engineering and management of storage subsystems.  He currently leads Spectra’s vertical initiatives, including media & entertainment. ZiaShakeri earned a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Southern University in 1982.

Leon Schweir, Pac-12 Networks, Senior Vice President of Production and Operations

SchweirLeonLeon Schweir was named the Senior Vice President of Production and Operations for Pac-12 Networks in December 2011 with the charge of overseeing all remote and studio production and operations for Pac-12 Networks.

Prior to Pac-12 Networks, Schweir was the second employee of the Big Ten Network in 2007 when he was named Executive Producer/Vice President of Production. He played a vital role in launching the new network, including hiring studio, remote and technical operations personnel that was responsible for producing more than 450 sporting events and 300 hours of live studio programming in year one.

Following Big Ten Network, Schweir went to Versus and Comcast SportsNet/NBC Universal as Executive Producer/Senior Vice President of Production and Planning. With over 30 years in television production, Schweir spent the majority of his career in production and programming with Madison Square Garden Networks, including 18 years as a producer and director for New York Rangers, Knicks and Yankees telecasts.

From 1997-2000, Schweir served as coordinating producer and was responsible and was elevated to Executive Producer/Vice President of Programming in 2000 where he spent six years overseeing the programming for MSG Network and FSN New York.

Ryan Currier, Pac-12 Networks, Head of Video Products

CurrierRyanRyan Currier is responsible for Video Products for Pac-12 Digital, a new media venture wholly owned by the Pac-12 Conference and its member universities that launched in August 2012.

In this role, Ryan drives the strategy and delivery of Pac-12 Now, a multi-platform video app that includes both authenticated TV Everywhere and free video content. With Pac-12 Now, fans can watch any of the hundreds of live events and studio content broadcast on the seven 24/7 linear Pac-12 Networks as well as full game replays, highlights, interviews, and other digital exclusive content. Ryan also works with the universities to drive the roadmap around overall fan-facing digital experiences.

Previously, Ryan was a VP, Product Management at Comcast via their acquisition of startup MetaTV, responsible for various cross-platform interactive TV efforts.

Ryan lives in Berkeley, CA with his wife and two children.

Michelle Munson, Aspera, President, CEO, and Co-Founder

Munson_MichelleMichelle Munson is co-inventor of Aspera’s fasp transport technology and is responsible for overseeing the company’s direction in collaboration with co-founder Serban Simu. She was a software engineer in research and start-up companies including the IBM Almaden Research center before founding Aspera in 2004. She has dual B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Physics from Kansas State University and was a Goldwater Scholar for achievement in Science and Mathematics, and later a Fulbright Scholar at Cambridge University where she received a postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science. She was the 2006 KSU College of Engineering Alumni Fellow (the youngest recipient ever), and has received national achievement awards from Glamour Magazine and USA Today. Munson is also a frequent speaker on technologies and trends around big data transport, cloud infrastructure, and mobile.

Tom Sahara, Turner Sports, Vice President, Operations and Technology

SaharaTomTom Sahara oversees remote operations and production technology at Turner Sports, which televises the NBA, Major League Baseball, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, NASCAR, and professional golf on TBS, TNT and truTV.

With a career spanning more than 25 years, starting as a sound technician for Hawaiian entertainment legend, Don Ho, and highlighted by tours of duty with three Olympics as a senior technical manager, and two Goodwill Games as director of technical operations, he has been involved in almost every aspect of live production. An active participant in development of the HDTV and broadband implementations at Turner, he is responsible for the technical operations of every sporting event shown on the Turner networks. Most recently, he has advanced the use of 4K cameras in sports production, performing experiments during the NCAA Final Four.

In April of 2013, the Sports Video Group announced that Sahara was appointed the association’s new Chairman.

O’Leary started his career at NFL Films before moving to NASCAR Media Group where he earned his first Emmy nomination in 2005. In 2006, Michael won his first Emmy for “Beyond the Wheel.” Since then, Michael has jumped into the world of college sports, earning 4 more Emmy wins and 4 College Sports Media Awards. In 2011, his Emmy winning football promo “Timeless” for the University of Michigan was named the CSMA Video of the Year.

Christopher Witmayer, NASCAR Media Group, Director Of Broadcast, Post Production and New Media Technology

Witmayer_ChristopherAs the Director of Broadcast, Production, and New Media Technology for NASCAR Media Group, Witmayer designed and implemented a completely file-based workflow using an easily expandable open architecture, introduced advanced color correction to the file-based workflow for both completed shows as well as archival material, managed the integration of EVS to the file-based workflow, designed and managed the expansion of the Archive and Production SAN to 1.8PB, and increased the efficiency of the Archival Ingest.

Prior to his current position, Witmayer served as New Media Technologist, Senior Manager for NASCAR, during which time he transitioned NASCAR Media Group to NASCAR Plaza and Hall of Fame, and designed the facility’s technological infrastructure for production, editorial, and archival operations.

Witmayer began his career with NFL Films in 2000 as a New Media Specialist/Avid Unity Administrator.


Chad Lampman, Duke University, Director of Video Operations

LampmanChadLampman joined the Duke staff in July of 2010 and serves as the Director of Video Operations.

A native of Lynchburg, Va., and 2003 graduate of Clemson University, Lampman worked as an assistant video director at his alma mater from 2003-10.

Lampman is married to the former Erin Tokos of Binghamton, N.Y., and the couple has two children, Madison Quinn and Ella Jeanne.

At Forstmann Little he worked with Erskine Bowles, former Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton; while at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, he worked with Ray Lane, Managing Partner; and for 20 years has worked with Charles Wang, founder of Computer Associates.

Chris’ relationship with Charles Wang, and Computer Associates’ former Chief Technology Officer, Nancy Li, created an opportunity to form NeuLion, where he is responsible for the strategy and execution of the company’s marketplace efforts.

The world is changing as it relates to digital media. Content owners have more leverage than ever as they move to IP based distribution. NeuLion has become a leader in creating new experiences for consumers with a fantastic array of interactive services delivered over the internet.

Chris Mycoskie, Southland Conference, Assistant Commissioner, Television & Electronic Media

MycoskieChrisChris Mycoskie serves as the assistant commissioner for television and electronic media after joining the conference March 1, 2011 as the director of television and electronic media. He oversees the conference’s broadcasting efforts in traditional and new media platforms.

Mycoskie has a strong background in television production, on-air game announcing duties, and has served as a sports news anchor and reporter at numerous television stations. In his Southland role, he works to enhance affiliate relationships and secure broadcast agreements for the Southland Conference Television Network. Plus, he labors to improve production quality and ultimately ensure the network is serving the needs of member institutions.

Additionally, Mycoskie explores and works to develop other television broadcast possibilities for the league, and oversees the conference’s video streaming efforts through the Southland Conference Digital Network.

A native of Arlington, Texas, Mycoskie earned his bachelor’s degree at Southeastern Louisiana University and also attended the University of Missouri. He’s previously held positions as a sports anchor, director and reporter at WVLA-TV in Baton Rouge, La., KTVE-TV in Monroe, La., and WOI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa. He’s also served as a sports reporter, anchor and host at ESPN Radio 103.3 FM in Dallas-Fort Worth, and has held various broadcast roles for Southeastern Louisiana University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the Southland TV Network and the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets.

Bill Friedman, Big Ten Network, Sr. Producer of Studio and Original Programming

FriedmanBillBill Friedman is the Senior Producer of Studio and Original Programming at the Big Ten Network and is responsible for creating and managing the content of BTN’s 15 studio shows and 5 original series. Friedman joined BTN one month prior to its launch in August of 2007, and has overseen the creation, launch and growth of the channel’s signature original program, the Emmy-nominated “The Journey.”

Prior to joining BTN, Friedman began his career in production at ESPN, where he spent the majority of his 11 years working as a Feature Producer for ESPN’s Feature Unit.

Tom Wilkins, University of New Hampshire, Associate Athletic Director for Media & Public Relations

WilkinsTomTom Wilkins was elevated to the position of Associate Athletic Director for Media & Public Relations in the summer of 2012; he spent the previous three years as an assistant AD. He is beginning his seventh year with the Wildcats including six years in his current stay. Wilkins oversees the media & public relations office and serves as the primary contact for the men’s hockey program. In addition, he is the executive producer of UNH Wildcat Productions, the athletic department’s production entity that broadcasts over 100 live games, a monthly magazine show Inside Wildcat Country and countless video features.

In this most current stint, Wilkins came on board as Associate Director of Athletic Media Relations for three years from 2007-10. He was the primary contact for women’s volleyball from 2007-10. Wilkins has been the men’s hockey contact since his return in ’07.

Wilkins, a member of CoSIDA, worked on successful Hobey Baker campaigns for Kevin Regan, Bobby Butler and Paul Thompson. All three candidates made it to the top 10 nationally, while Butler was selected to the Hobey Hat Trick as one of the award’s three finalists. In addition, Wilkins has helped promote the men’s hockey team to nine All-America selections since 2007.

He served as Media Coordinator for the 2009 & 2011 NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Northeast Regional that was hosted by UNH at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. Additionally, Wilkins has worked with several other NCAA and conference championship events over his professional career. Wilkins will again be charged with the media oversight at the 2013 Northeast Regional in Manchester.

In his current role, Wilkins is charged with overseeing athletic public relations as part of the University’s public relations initiative, through feature stories, videos, social networking sites and other outreach projects. Wilkins has developed and designed a comprehensive video and television production program that includes the aforementioned video features, as well as video highlights, video replay and video streaming. He spoke at the 2012 College Sports Video Summit in Atlanta about UNH’s HD television over IP cutting-edge technology.

Before returning to UNH, Wilkins served as Director of Communications for the America East Conference where he oversaw the promotion of all 20 of the conference’s sports.

Prior to his work at America East, Wilkins served as Assistant Sports Information Director for two years at Quinnipiac University (Hamden, Conn.). While there, he served as the primary contact for the Bobcats’ men’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball and golf teams.

Wilkins served as an Athletic Media Relations Assistant with UNH in 2003-04, when he worked as the primary contact for men’s soccer and men’s basketball, and assisted with various other sports.

A native of Pelham, N.H., Wilkins is a 2003 graduate of Assumption College (Worcester, Mass.), cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and History. In 2006, Wilkins earned his Master’s Degree in Interactive Communications at Quinnipiac. Wilkins resides in Pelham, N.H. with his wife Julie.
